Spinal Injury

We support a variety of spinal injuries and diseases, along with any associated conditions, offering short or long-term care and support in the home.  Our highly skilled care professionals receive specific training on practical support such as bowel management, catheter care, pain management, tracheostomy care and ventilation and breathing support. They also attend specialist training days to learn how to manage, maintain and prevent spinal complications including managing autonomic dysreflexia, temperature and postural management.

Many of our clients have spent months, even years, in a spinal rehabilitation unit following their injury and the impact of moving back home cannot be underestimated. A period of stabilisation may be required with extra support from community services teams to assist with the transitional phase, and home adaptions may be significant prior to any discharge home.
